I love playing the gum leaf, and I show the kids how to fold it in half and blow onto it to create music when they come to Wigay. Actually, I love country music and the country way of life.
I tell the kids “You want to live a long time? Respect your parents and listen, learn and look! Learn everywhere you are – especially outside the classroom. Look, listen and learn because otherwise all the knowledge and stories will be lost.”
I’ve lived in the Macleay Valley Coast area almost all my life. My family is from here. The fresh drinking water, the people, the plentiful food, and the environment all need looking after. Wigay is a place that keeps our culture alive – and we work together as a crew to maintain the natural habitat in the park.
