1 nights’ Accommodation for Two at Smoky Cape Lighthouse B&B and Cottages

Smoky Cape Lighthouse B&B and Cottages are surrounded by some of the Macleay Valley Coast’s most stunning coastline, National Parks and bushland. This unique accommodation has been carefully restored from its days as the Lighthouse Keeper’s cottage to include modern amenities, furnishings and fittings.

With coastline as far as you can see and the local fauna at your doorstop, what better way to unwind and discover all that nature has to offer.

Take a tour to the top of the impressive Smoky Cape Lighthouse and check out the expansive views of the coastline North and South, a Top Ten Experience on the Macleay Valley Coast.

Family entry to Trial Bay Gaol

One of the Macleay’s Top Ten Experiences is a visit to Trial Bay Gaol.

This is a fun way to discover some of our local history, with a well curated museum of historic artefacts from the site, and a memorial to those who spent time within its walls.

The Gaol was built to house prisoners brought to the area in 1886 to construct a breakwater, in an attempt to make Trial Bay a safe harbour between Sydney and Brisbane. Mother Nature has destroyed most of the original breakwater, but if you look out from the guard tower you can still see some of the remains – if you can tear your eyes away from the amazing views along the coast. During World War 1 the gaol was used as an internment camp for Germans who were suspected (almost always falsely) to be conspiring with the enemy. It hasn’t been used as an active gaol since World War 1, and is now an historic ruin. Try a night-time tour through the ghostly ruins – only for the brave!
