The first whales of the season have been sighted off the Macleay coast, migrating north to the warmer waters off Queensland to breed. With an expected 20,000 whales expected to swim past this year, it’s time to start planning your whale-watching adventure.
Track sightings of whales by downloading the official Wild About Whales ‘WAW’ application, where you can upload sightings and pictures.
Locations perfect for whale watching include Smoky Cape Lighthouse, South West Rocks, The Gap, Hat Head and Reservoir Lookout at Crescent Head.
Commercial tours are available from Fish Rock Dive Centre. Learn more.
