Take in the wealth of bird life at the Boyters Lane Bird Hide on the way into South West Rocks.
Built on an old dairy farm, the bird hide is placed within a tranquil area of rehabilitated bushland, mangrove and salt marsh. Stroll along the recently built walkway, read the information board and be sure to bring your binoculars!
With temperate, subtropical and coastal environments the diversity of bird life on the Macleay Valley is pretty darn amazing. Both novice and die-hard bird watchers are virtually guaranteed to spot a huge range of birds, from raptors and waterbirds to the feathered natives of the Australian bush.
There is parking, an information hut and bird hide. You can either sit in the bird hide or take the two kilometres of built walkways. The Macleay has a range of migratory bird life, so you are likely to see different birds throughout the year.
