Kempsey – So many things to do

As the commercial heart of the Macleay Valley, it is no surprise that there is lots to keep you occupied. The shopping centres and retail outlets cover all the bases all your essentials and something to spoil you if you want.

If shopping is not your thing why not get out-and-about by doing a scenic drive around the district.  Below are a selection of great drives which Kempsey can be your launch point. The surrounding hinterland is stunning with green rolling hills and perfect pasture lands.

Discover the wonderful arts and culture of Kempsey. There are some great galleries and studios displaying both Modern and Aboriginal art. Make sure you stop off at the Kempsey Visitor information Centre. The building was designed by renowned architect Glen Murcott and has some wonderful art on display and for sale.

A trip to Kempsey is not complete with out a visit to the vibrant riverside markets. The Kempsey Riverside Markets feature produce and products from Kempsey and surrounding districts. The markets are a place for stall holders to display and sell their wares and an opportunity to browse, shop and mingle in a relaxed atmosphere.

Eating out is great in Kempsey. As the heart of the Macleay Valley Food Bowl, there are a lot of local food outlets, cafes and restaurants using wonderful local produce from the valley.
