Arts & Culture
Tucked away in some of our most picturesque locations are galleries and cultural centres that allow you to experience the art and history of our original indigenous inhabitants, the Dhungutti people, as well as exhibitions by other local, national and international artists.
The DNAAG Gallery within the Visitor Information Centre in Kempsey houses a permanent and ever changing exhibition of local indigenous art. And while you’re in town, don’t miss the Wigay Cultural Park, a native garden, book a tour to learn about the uses of these plants. Macleay Valley Community Gallery in the quaint riverside village of Gladstone has regular exhibitions featuring both local and internationally acclaimed artists.
In the middle of the rainforest near Yarrahappini is the gorgeous little Yarrahappini Studio Gallery which displays beautiful hand-made timber furniture and works by local artists.
